Kalevínõmme

Kalevínõmme is a subdistrict of the district of Nõmme in Tallinn, Estonia. It is located in the southwestern part of the city. The area is primarily residential, characterized by detached houses and small apartment buildings, often surrounded by greenery.

Historically, Nõmme, and by extension Kalevínõmme, developed as a summer resort town in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It became popular for its pine forests and sandy soil, offering a healthier environment compared to the industrializing city center of Tallinn. Many of the older houses in Kalevínõmme reflect the architectural styles of that era.

The name "Kalevínõmme" likely derives from "Kalev," a prominent figure in Estonian mythology, and "Nõmme," meaning heathland or sandy area. The subdistrict retains much of the natural charm of its origins, with several parks and forested areas.

Transportation links to the city center are provided by local bus lines. Amenities within Kalevínõmme are modest, with residents typically utilizing the more extensive services available in the larger Nõmme district or the city center for shopping, education, and healthcare.
