Kahului

Kahului is a census-designated place and a planned community located on the island of Maui, Hawaii. It serves as the primary commercial and residential center of the island. Kahului is situated on the north-central coast of Maui, adjacent to the Kahului Airport, which is the main airport for the island.

The area's history is closely tied to the sugar cane industry, which dominated Maui's economy for many years. The Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company, once a major employer, had extensive operations in and around Kahului. Today, while agriculture has diversified, remnants of this past can still be seen in the landscape.

Kahului's economy has shifted towards services, retail, and tourism. It is home to the largest shopping mall on Maui, the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center, and numerous other retail outlets, restaurants, and businesses. The Kahului Harbor is also a significant port for cruise ships and cargo, further contributing to the town's economic activity.
