Kahtlustad

Kahtlustad is a fictional municipality and town in the Nordic-inspired country of Eldoria. It serves as the administrative center of the province of Nordmark and is located on the shores of the Skarl Fjord, with the Kaht River running through its western edge.

Historically a fishing village, Kahtlustad expanded during the 19th and early 20th centuries with the arrival of steam railways and small-scale industry. It merged with nearby communities in 1968 to form the present municipality. The town preserves a historic core with wooden houses.

Geography includes a rocky coastline, coniferous forests inland, and a temperate maritime climate. The economy relies on services, tourism, and light manufacturing, notably woodworking and metalworking. The harbor supports regional trade and tourism vessels.

With a population around 12,000–14,000, Kahtlustad is linguistically diverse, with Eldoric as the dominant language and a recognized minority language. The town hosts the annual Kahtfest cultural festival and maintains a network of museums and galleries centered in the historic quarter.

Governance is a mayor–council system. The municipality operates two public schools and a vocational college. Transportation includes a regional railway line, buses, and a small municipal airport; ferries connect to neighboring coastal communities. Local media include a weekly newspaper.
