Kaffivélar

Kaffivélar, or coffee machines, are appliances designed to brew coffee. They operate by heating water and passing it through ground coffee beans, extracting the soluble compounds that give coffee its flavor and aroma. There are several types of kaffivélar, each employing different brewing methods.

Drip coffee makers are perhaps the most common, featuring a filter basket where coffee grounds are placed. Hot water drips through the grounds and filter into a carafe below. Espresso machines, on the other hand, force hot water under high pressure through finely ground coffee, producing a concentrated shot of espresso. Pod or capsule machines offer convenience, using pre-packaged coffee portions that are punctured and brewed with hot water. French presses are a simpler, manual method where coarse coffee grounds are steeped in hot water, and then a plunger is used to separate the grounds from the liquid. Moka pots use steam pressure to brew coffee on a stovetop.

Modern kaffivélar can range from basic models to sophisticated machines with programmable features, built-in grinders, and milk frothers.
