Kabelgräben

Kabelgräben are excavations intended for laying and housing buried cables, such as electrical power lines and telecommunications or fiber optic cables. They are used in both urban and rural infrastructure projects and may include protective conduits or cable ducts (Kabelkanäle) to organize and shield the cables. The purpose is to enable safe, long-term installation of underground networks while protecting cables from damage and moisture.

The construction process typically involves planning and coordination with utility operators, securing permits, and locating existing infrastructure. Excavation is followed by placing ducts or cables, bedding with sand or fine material, and applying protective layers to prevent damage.
