KNEC

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is a statutory body established under the Kenya National Examinations Council Act, Cap. 225A of the Laws of Kenya. It is responsible for the administration of national examinations in Kenya, including the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), and various technical and vocational examinations. KNEC operates under the Ministry of Education, ensuring standardized and fair assessment systems across the country.

Founded in 1980, KNEC replaced the East African Examinations Council (EAEC) to manage examinations within Kenya independently. Its primary mandate is to conduct, supervise, and mark national examinations while maintaining high standards of academic integrity. The council also develops examination policies, sets guidelines for assessment, and ensures the reliability and validity of results.

KNEC oversees a wide range of examinations, including those for primary and secondary education, as well as vocational and technical courses.
