Käyttökosteuden is a Finnish term that translates to "operating humidity" or "service humidity" in English. It refers to the level of moisture in the air within a specific environment where equipment or materials are being used or stored. This concept is particularly important in various industrial, scientific, and manufacturing processes where precise control of humidity is crucial for optimal performance, product quality, and equipment longevity.

Maintaining the correct operating humidity can prevent issues such as corrosion, material degradation, static electricity buildup, and malfunctions in sensitive electronic components. For instance, in the electronics industry, low humidity can lead to electrostatic discharge (ESD), which can damage delicate circuitry. Conversely, excessively high humidity can cause condensation, leading to corrosion and mold growth.
