Jégkorszak is the Hungarian word for Ice Age. An ice age is a long period of reduction in the temperature of the Earth's climate, resulting in the presence or expansion of continental and polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers. Earth's climate is constantly changing, and ice ages are a natural part of this cycle. The most recent ice age, known as the Pleistocene Epoch, began about 2.6 million years ago and ended approximately 11,700 years ago.
