Jäähdytysöljyjen

Jäähdytysöljyjen, known in English as cutting fluid or coolant, are liquids or semi-liquids used in machining operations to cool and lubricate the cutting tool and workpiece. Their primary functions are to reduce the heat generated during the cutting process, which can damage the tool and workpiece, and to lubricate the interface between the tool and the material being cut, reducing friction and improving surface finish.

Different types of jäähdytysöljyjen exist, each suited for specific applications. Mineral oils are common and cost-effective, often used for less demanding operations. Synthetic fluids offer excellent cooling properties and can be formulated for specific needs, but are generally more expensive. Semi-synthetic fluids combine properties of both mineral and synthetic oils. Water-miscible oils, which are mixed with water, provide good cooling and lubrication and are widely used. Straight oils, which are not mixed with water, offer superior lubrication for heavy-duty cutting.

The selection of the appropriate jäähdytysöljy depends on factors such as the material being machined, the type of cutting operation (e.g., turning, milling, grinding), the cutting speed and feed rate, and environmental and health considerations. Proper maintenance and disposal of jäähdytysöljyjen are crucial to ensure effective performance, tool longevity, and compliance with environmental regulations. Contaminated or degraded cutting fluid can lead to reduced machining efficiency, increased tool wear, and potential health hazards for operators.
