Jäykkähaarukoita, known in English as rigid forks, are a type of bicycle fork that lacks any suspension mechanism. This design contrasts with suspension forks, which incorporate springs, dampers, or air pressure to absorb impacts and vibrations from the riding surface. Rigid forks are characterized by their simple, solid construction, typically made from materials such as steel, aluminum, carbon fiber, or titanium.

The primary advantage of a rigid fork is its simplicity and reliability. With no moving parts to maintain or repair, they are generally less expensive to manufacture and require minimal upkeep. Their lighter weight compared to suspension forks can also contribute to a quicker, more responsive feel on the bike, particularly on smooth surfaces. Rigid forks offer a direct connection to the terrain, which can be beneficial for efficient power transfer and precise handling, especially in disciplines like road cycling or cyclocross.

However, the absence of suspension means that rigid forks do not absorb shocks. This can lead to a less comfortable ride on rough terrain, as impacts are transmitted directly to the rider. Vibrations can also become fatiguing over longer distances or on uneven surfaces. The choice between a rigid fork and a suspension fork often depends on the intended use of the bicycle and the rider's preferences regarding comfort, performance, and maintenance.
