Järnkoncentration, also known as iron concentration, is a process used in the mining and metallurgy industries to increase the iron content of iron ores. This process is essential for producing high-quality iron and steel, which are fundamental materials in various industries, including construction, automotive, and manufacturing.

The primary method of järnkoncentration involves beneficiation, which is the process of separating valuable minerals from gangue (waste materials). In the case of iron ores, this is typically done through a combination of crushing, grinding, and magnetic separation. The ore is first crushed into smaller pieces and then ground into a fine powder. This powder is then subjected to magnetic separation, where a magnetic field is used to separate the iron-bearing minerals from the gangue.

The resulting concentrate is a high-grade iron ore with a significantly higher iron content than the original ore. This concentrate can then be further processed into pig iron, which is a key intermediate product in the production of steel.

Järnkoncentration is crucial for the efficient and cost-effective production of iron and steel.
