Jännitehäiriö

Jännitehäiriö refers to any deviation from the intended voltage level in an electrical system. These deviations can manifest as either voltage sags, also known as undervoltages, or voltage surges, also known as overvoltages. A voltage sag occurs when the voltage drops below its normal RMS (Root Mean Square) value for a short period. This can be caused by factors such as the sudden energization of large loads, faults in the power system, or issues with the utility's distribution network. Symptoms of voltage sags in sensitive equipment can include flickering lights, malfunction of electronic devices, or temporary shutdowns.

Conversely, a voltage surge is an increase in voltage above its normal RMS value. These can be transient, lasting for a very short duration, or they can be of longer duration. Causes of voltage surges include lightning strikes, switching operations in the power grid, or faults that cause temporary overvoltages. Surges can be particularly damaging to electrical and electronic equipment, potentially leading to component failure and reduced lifespan. Maintaining a stable voltage supply is crucial for the reliable operation of most electrical devices and systems. Various methods exist to mitigate jännitehäiriö, including voltage regulators, surge protectors, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). The severity and frequency of these disturbances can impact the overall performance and reliability of electrical infrastructure.
