Junín

Junín is a toponym used for several places in Latin America and for historical events related to the Peruvian and broader Independence movements. Historical note: The Battle of Junín was fought on August 6, 1824, during the Peruvian War of Independence, near the Junín plains. Patriot forces defeated a Royalist cavalry detachment, contributing to the campaign that culminated later that year at Ayacucho and helped secure Peru’s independence.

In Argentina, Junín is a city in Buenos Aires Province, about 260 kilometers west of the national capital. It serves as the capital of Junín Partido and functions as an agricultural and commercial center with rail connections to other parts of the country.
