Jedis

Jedi are a monastic order of Force-sensitive humanoids who serve as guardians of peace and justice in the Star Wars universe. They are trained to wield the Force, a universal energy field, and to use lightsabers, energy blades powered by kyber crystals. The Jedi generally align with the light side of the Force and pursue nonviolent resolution when possible, though they may fight in defense of others.

Origins and organization: The Jedi Order traces its origins to ancient times, with the order maintaining temples and training centers across the galaxy. The Jedi Council provides guidance to the Order, and senior members may serve as mentors, ambassadors, or generals. Typical ranks include Padawan, Jedi Knight, and Jedi Master.

Training and code: Young Force-sensitive children are brought to be trained under a master; Padawans accompany their mentor and undertake trials to advance. The Jedi Code emphasizes self-discipline, serenity, compassion, and avoidance of attachment and personal possessions.

Skills and tools: Jedi wield lightsabers, energy blades whose crystals influence blade color. They use a wide range of Force powers, such as telekinesis, mind tricks, and precognition, and often serve as diplomats, scouts, pilots, or generals, depending on the era and their role within the Order.

Notable eras and figures: The Jedi Order rises during the era of the Galactic Republic and plays a central role in the Clone Wars before most are slain in the purge known as Order 66. Surviving members, like Luke Skywalker and Rey, later contribute to rebuilding the Jedi legacy.
