Jalusta

Jalusta is a Finnish term that refers to a base, pedestal, or stand that supports and elevates an object. The concept is used across art, architecture, furniture, and everyday objects to provide stability, presentation, and accessibility.

In art and sculpture, a jalusta (pedestal or plinth) raises a statue or relief to an appropriate viewing height and helps integrate it into its surroundings. In interior design and architecture, jalustat can be used to mount or display items such as lamps, small sculptures, architectural ornaments, or signs. The term is also commonly applied to stands for consumer goods, including television stands (TV jalusta), speaker stands, and plant stands (plant jalusta).

Materials and construction vary according to purpose. Common materials include wood, metal (such as steel or aluminum), stone, or combinations of these.
