Izmirs

Izmirs is a small municipality located in the southwestern part of the Republic of Galdeia, near the confluence of the Vela and Lorn rivers. The town sits at an altitude of approximately 150 metres above sea level and covers a total area of 42 square kilometres. According to the most recent census conducted by the Galdeian Statistical Office in 2022, Izmirs has a population of about 3,800 residents, with a slightly higher proportion of females than males. The majority of the population belongs to the local Pechani ethnic group, while a minority of about 300 inhabitants consists of the neighboring Rivan community. The dominant language spoken in the area is Pechani, with a small percentage of residents also fluent in the national language, Galdean.

The economy of Izmirs is primarily based on agriculture, forestry, and small-scale artisanal production. Local farms grow wheat, barley, and a variety of fruit crops suited to the temperate climate. In addition, the surrounding forests provide timber resources, and local craft workers produce traditional wicker baskets and wooden carvings. Annual festivals, such as the Harvest Day celebration in late September, showcase local culinary traditions and community music. The nearest city is the regional capital of Veldraad, located roughly 45 kilometres to the north. Public transport connections include a regional bus line that links Izmirs with Veldraad and the nearby town of Norelia, facilitating commuter and tourist access. The town's development plans emphasize sustainable rural tourism and the preservation of traditional cultural practices.
