Itineraris, in Catalan, refer to planned sequences of locations and movements used to guide travel from a starting point to a destination, often including intermediate stops, detours, and time considerations. They can apply to transportation planning, tourism, pilgrimage, logistics, and education. An itinerary usually lists the core elements of a journey: the origin and final destination, a sequence of waypoints, estimated distances and travel times, the chosen modes of transport, and any constraints such as opening hours, accessibility, or budget. They can be linear, circular, or point-to-point.

Types and uses: thematic itineraries group sites by a theme—historic, cultural, gastronomic, or scenic routes—while long-distance itineraries connect multiple regions over days or weeks. In urban planning and commerce, itineraries help optimize routes for deliveries, public transit, or emergency response. In the digital era, itineraries are often created and shared with mapping and routing software, and updated in real time to reflect conditions. They may be stored as GPS traces, printed guides, or app-based plans.

Historically, the concept of itineraries extends from ancient road networks and travel routes described in classical and medieval sources to modern travel guides and logistics operations.
