Itavanians

The Itavians are a linguistic and ethnic group native to the country of Georgia. They primarily inhabit the southwestern regions of the country, including the provinces of Kvemo Satskheni, Akhaltsikhe, and Aspindza.

The Itavians speak the Meskhetian dialect of the Kartvelian language family, which is closely related to other Georgian dialects. Their language and culture are a mix of traditional Georgian and Turkish influences, resulting from centuries of coexistence with various ethnic groups. Some Itavians have historically been nomadic or semi-nomadic shepherds and farmers.

The Itavians are descendants of the ancient Kingdom of Iberia, a historical region that included parts of modern-day western Georgia and eastern Turkey. Throughout the centuries, the Itavians have been subjected to various migrations, conquests, and conflicts.
