Ishpemings
Ishpeming is a city located in Marquette County, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. It is situated near the southern shore of Lake Superior, approximately 15 miles west of Marquette. The name "Ishpeming" is derived from an Ojibwa word meaning "high place" or "sky." Historically, Ishpeming was a significant center for iron ore mining, which was the primary driver of its early development and growth. The city was incorporated in 1871.
