Irulan

Irulan Corrino is a fictional character in Frank Herbert's Dune series. She is a princess of House Corrino, the daughter of Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, and a member of the imperial court. Trained as a historian and writer, Irulan is depicted as a capable scholar whose work centers on the histories of rulers and empires. In the original Dune novel, she becomes the wife of Paul Atreides as part of a political alliance designed to stabilize Paul’s rule after the fall of House Atreides.

Her marriage is childless; Paul’s concubine Chani bears his children, and this dynamic shapes Irulan's personal and political stance. She continues to document events and influence court politics through her writing and strategic maneuvering, while serving as a cautious observer of Muad'Dib's rise and the sweeping changes to the empire.

In subsequent works set after Dune, including Dune Messiah, Irulan's role as a chronicler persists; she remains present at the imperial court and is often viewed as a figure through whom various factions attempt to shape public narrative. Beyond the original series, prequel novels by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson expand Irulan's backstory, detailing her upbringing, training, and position within the Corrino realm.
