Iorions

Iorions is a fictional species featured in the tabletop role-playing game Pathfinder. They are described as beings of pure emotion, manifesting as living, amorphous energy. Their physical forms are fluid and can change shape, often reflecting the emotional state of the individual Iorion. They do not possess typical biological needs and sustain themselves by absorbing and processing ambient emotional energy from other living creatures.

Iorions originate from the Plane of Emotion, a dimension where thoughts and feelings coalesce into tangible forms. While capable of experiencing a wide spectrum of emotions, Iorions are often characterized by their intense and sometimes overwhelming feelings. This intense emotionality can make them unpredictable and difficult to understand for creatures with more conventional emotional ranges.

In Pathfinder lore, Iorions are often encountered as solitary wanderers or in small, loosely organized groups. They are not inherently malevolent but their unique nature can lead to conflict. Their method of sustenance, absorbing emotional energy, can be perceived as draining or even harmful by those around them, particularly if an Iorion is experiencing strong negative emotions. Conversely, a calm or happy Iorion might inadvertently soothe those nearby. Their interactions with other species are varied, ranging from curiosity and observation to outright hostility or dependence, depending on the specific Iorion and the circumstances.
