Interworker

Interworker is a term used in some organizational and technical contexts to denote a person, role, or system that enables cooperation and communication between otherwise separate workers, teams, or components. The concept emphasizes bridging gaps—between departments, between software systems, or between human and machine actors—to support coordinated work and information flow. The word is not widely standardized and lacks a single formal definition in major references, but common usage frames it as a mediator or connector.

In organizational settings, an interworker can be a liaison or cross-functional coordinator who aligns goals, shares context, and facilitates decision-making across silos. Such roles are increasingly important in project management, product development, and agile environments where cross-functional collaboration is essential.

In technology, interworking refers to the capability of disparate systems to operate together. An interworker in this sense may be a middleware component, a service mesh agent, or an automation bot that translates data, enforces policies, or routes tasks between microservices, databases, and external APIs. The goal is interoperability and seamless workflow across heterogeneous platforms.

In literature or industry jargon, interworker may also describe entities that mediate between human workers and automated systems, or between distributed teams in remote work settings.
