The term is a neologism mixing "interdependence" with a stylized suffix -aj, found in contemporary discussions of systems thinking and cooperative governance. There is no single canonical definition; usage varies across disciplines and communities, with some treating it as a brand name for collaborative projects.

The concept builds on systems thinking, network theory, and relational ethics. It highlights feedback loops, nonlinearity, and multi-level interactions among individuals, organizations, institutions, and ecosystems. It also foregrounds mutual obligations, shared responsibilities, and cooperative adaptation.
