Inteligenca

Inteligenca is a broad term referring to the capacity to acquire knowledge, reason, understand complex ideas, remember information, adapt to new situations, and solve problems. It encompasses both theoretical and practical competencies and is used across human, animal, and machine agents. In some languages the term inteligenca corresponds to intelligence, including Romanian usage.

Human intelligence is a central focus of psychology and cognitive science. It is often described as a combination of general ability and specialized skills. Classical theories proposed a general factor (g); other models emphasize fluid and crystallized intelligence and multiple intelligences. Cognitive performance depends on perception, memory, attention, and reasoning, and develops with experience, education, and environment.

Artificial intelligence describes the design of systems that can perform tasks requiring intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, perception, and language use. AI methods range from symbolic reasoning to machine learning and deep learning. While AI can surpass human performance in narrow tasks, it often lacks broad common sense and flexible adaptation and raises questions about safety, bias, and accountability.

Measurement of intelligence commonly uses standardized tests, such as IQ batteries, but such instruments face criticisms for cultural bias and limited scope.
