Innogy

Innogy SE was a German energy company headquartered in Essen. Established in 2016 as a subsidiary of RWE, its purpose was to manage RWE's activities in three core areas: renewable energy generation and services, distribution networks, and energy retail for private and business customers. The company operated across Germany and several other European markets, engaging in wind, solar, hydro projects, grid operations, and customer solutions.

Innogy was organized into three main segments: Renewables, Grid & Infrastructure, and Customer Solutions. The Renewables segment encompassed the development and operation of wind and solar assets, while Grid & Infrastructure covered electricity networks and related services. The Customer Solutions segment focused on retail electricity and gas supply, energy services, and customer-related offerings.

In 2018, Innogy entered into a strategic deal with E.ON. As part of the agreement, E.ON acquired Innogy's networks and customer solutions businesses, while RWE retained Innogy's renewables assets. The transaction was completed in 2019, and Innogy ceased to exist as an independent entity. Its assets were integrated into E.ON and RWE, with E.ON focusing on networks and customer solutions and RWE consolidating the renewables portfolio.

The dissolution of Innogy marked a significant realignment in the German energy sector, reinforcing the separation of E.ON and RWE's business focuses: E.ON on networks and customer solutions, and RWE on power generation and renewables. The Innogy brand no longer operates as a standalone company, with its former operations now administered under E.ON and RWE.
