InlineCarbonatoren are fluid processing devices designed to carbonate liquids as they flow through a pipeline. Installed inline in beverage dispensing systems, they inject dissolved CO2 into the liquid at the point of use, enabling continuous carbonation without batch processing. They are used for carbonated water, beer, soft drinks, and other beverages, and are common in commercial kitchens, bottling lines, and draft beverage outlets.

Operation and design: The device typically comprises a CO2 supply with a regulator, an inline injection or venturi element, a static mixing section, and a control module that adjusts CO2 flow in relation to liquid flow rate and temperature. CO2 is dissolved under pressure; colder liquids absorb more CO2, and some systems employ multi-stage diffusion or microbubble diffusers to improve solubility.

Advantages and limitations: Inline carbonation reduces batch processing and allows precise control of carbonation level; it can be integrated with existing piping. Limitations include sensitivity to temperature and flow rate, potential CO2 loss if lines are warmed or if venting occurs, and higher initial costs. Maintenance requires regular cleaning to prevent microbial growth and ensure sanitary contact surfaces; materials are typically stainless steel or food-grade plastics.
