Inlaatreductie

Inlaatreductie refers to the process of reducing the amount of air that enters an engine's combustion chamber during the intake stroke. This is typically achieved by restricting the airflow, often through a throttle plate or a specially designed intake manifold. The primary goal of inlaatreductie is to manipulate the air-fuel mixture for various performance or efficiency objectives.

In naturally aspirated engines, the throttle plate controls the amount of air entering the engine. By partially closing the throttle, less air is drawn in, leading to a reduction in volumetric efficiency. This can be used to control engine speed and power output, for example, when the accelerator pedal is not fully depressed.

In turbocharged or supercharged engines, inlaatreductie can be employed for different reasons. It might be used to manage boost pressure, preventing excessive levels that could damage the engine. It can also be used to influence exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems, by creating a vacuum that draws exhaust gases back into the intake.
