Industrialurban, often referred to as industrial urbanism, is a planning and design concept that seeks to integrate industrial activity within the fabric of contemporary cities. It emphasizes the reuse of existing industrial heritage, close spatial relationships between production, logistics, and markets, and the creation of neighborhoods where work, housing, and services are co-located. The approach encompasses architectural design, land-use policy, transportation planning, and environmental strategies that support manufacturing, repair, and related services alongside residential and cultural uses.

Key elements include adaptive reuse of warehouses and factories; mixed-use districts that combine workshops, offices, and retail; compact, transit-oriented layouts; robust freight and last-mile logistics; energy efficiency through district energy networks and on-site generation; and the integration of makerspaces, research facilities, and training centers to support local production. Data-driven management, public participation, and incentives help align industrial activity with urban goals such as housing affordability, climate resilience, and social inclusion.

The concept gained prominence as cities faced deindustrialization and sought to revitalize former industrial zones. By prioritizing proximity, flexibility, and sustainability, industrialurban aims to reduce commuting, attract local employment, and preserve industrial skills. Challenges include balancing livability with industrial noise and emissions, securing land at affordable prices, and coordinating multiple jurisdictions.
