Induktionsmotors

Induktionsmotors, also known as asynchronous motors, are a type of AC electric motor. They operate on the principle of electromagnetic induction, where a rotating magnetic field in the stator induces a current in the rotor. This induced current creates its own magnetic field, which then interacts with the stator's field, causing the rotor to turn.

The stator contains windings that, when supplied with AC power, generate a rotating magnetic field. The rotor, typically a squirrel cage or wound rotor, is placed within this field. The difference in speed between the rotating magnetic field and the rotor is called slip. This slip is essential for induction to occur and for torque to be generated. If the rotor were to spin at the same speed as the magnetic field (synchronous speed), no current would be induced, and no torque would be produced.

Induktionsmotors are widely used due to their simple construction, robustness, reliability, and relatively low cost. They are commonly found in a vast array of applications, from household appliances like washing machines and fans to industrial machinery such as pumps, conveyors, and compressors. Their ability to operate directly from the AC power grid without the need for complex external excitation circuits makes them a practical and ubiquitous choice for electric motor applications. Variations in design allow for different starting characteristics and speed control capabilities.
