Indikaatorite
Indikaatorite is the Estonian term for indicators—signals, signs, or measurements used to infer the state of a system. They provide actionable information by acting as proxies for more complex or costly direct measurements. Indicators can be qualitative or quantitative and are applied across many fields, including environmental monitoring, medicine, economics, and manufacturing.
Types and examples: Visual indicators show condition via changes visible to the eye, such as a color
Characteristics: Useful indicators are sensitive to relevant changes, specific to the phenomenon, reliable over time, calibrated
Applications and limitations: Indicators support monitoring, forecasting, and decision making but can mislead if misinterpreted, out
