Immisciblea

Immisciblea is a concept used in theoretical discussions of phase separation to denote a hypothetical class of immiscible liquid systems with a controllable interfacial structure. The term is derived from immiscible and a suffix used for category names, and it appears mainly in thought experiments, pedagogical material, and some science-fiction contexts. Immisciblea does not refer to a known compound or material in established scientific literature.

In these models, two liquids are completely immiscible under standard conditions, forming a sharp interface with high interfacial tension. Under specific external conditions, such as electric or magnetic fields, confinement to micro- or nano-scale geometries, or rapid temperature changes, Immisciblea systems may exhibit tunable interfacial curvature or transient sub-nanometer mixing. This allows exploration of concepts like emulsification, wetting, and spinodal decomposition without committing to a real substance.

Formation in model studies is typically simulated or inferred from experiments using conventional immiscible pairs, such as water and nonpolar organic liquids, under controlled boundary conditions. The purpose is to provide a framework for analyzing how forces at interfaces govern stability, transport, and phase behavior in multiphase fluids.
