IgMspecific refers to reagents, assays, or concepts that are specific for immunoglobulin M (IgM). In immunology, IgM is the first antibody isotype produced during a primary immune response and is commonly used as an indicator of recent infection. IgMspecific tools are designed to detect, quantify, or bind IgM while minimizing cross-reactivity with other isotypes such as IgG or IgA. They may employ anti-IgM capture antibodies, IgM subclass–specific reagents, or assay formats optimized to reduce interference from rheumatoid factors and heterophile antibodies.
