IgEvizsgálat, or immunoglobulin E (IgE) testing, is a medical procedure used to identify and quantify the level of IgE antibodies in a person's blood. IgE is a type of antibody produced by the immune system in response to allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, or certain foods. Elevated IgE levels can indicate an allergic condition, while normal levels do not necessarily rule out allergies.

There are several types of IgE tests, including:

1. Blood test: This is the most common method and involves drawing a blood sample from a vein. The sample is then analyzed to measure the concentration of IgE antibodies.

2. Skin prick test: This test involves applying small amounts of potential allergens to the skin and observing for a reaction, such as redness or itching, which can indicate an IgE-mediated allergic response.

3. Intradermal test: Similar to the skin prick test, but the allergens are injected into the skin rather than applied topically.

IgE testing is often used to diagnose allergic conditions, such as allergic rhinitis (hay fever), asthma, and food allergies. However, it is important to note that a positive IgE test result does not confirm an allergy, as some people may have elevated IgE levels without experiencing allergic symptoms. Conversely, a negative IgE test result does not rule out an allergy, as some allergies may not be IgE-mediated.

IgE testing is generally considered safe and non-invasive. However, there can be rare side effects, such as redness, itching, or swelling at the injection site in the case of intradermal testing. It is always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before undergoing any medical test.
