IRetäisyysanturit, also known as infrared distance sensors, are electronic devices that measure the distance to an object using infrared light. They work by emitting a beam of infrared light and then measuring the amount of light that is reflected back from the object. The intensity of the reflected light is inversely proportional to the distance of the object.

There are several types of IRetäisyysanturit, including triangulation sensors, time-of-flight sensors, and modulated beam sensors. Triangulation sensors use a light source and a detector arranged at an angle. The position of the reflected light spot on the detector indicates the distance. Time-of-flight sensors measure the time it takes for the infrared light pulse to travel to the object and back. Modulated beam sensors emit a beam of infrared light whose intensity is modulated at a specific frequency. The sensor detects the reflected light and compares its phase to the emitted signal to determine the distance.

IRetäisyysanturit are used in a wide variety of applications. They can be found in robotics for obstacle detection and navigation, in automotive systems for parking assistance and adaptive cruise control, and in industrial automation for material handling and quality control. They are also used in consumer electronics, such as in smartphones for proximity sensing.

The advantages of IRetäisyysanturit include their relatively low cost, small size, and non-contact operation. However, their performance can be affected by the color and reflectivity of the object, as well as ambient lighting conditions and dust or fog. Their effective range is also limited compared to some other sensing technologies.
