IPkorlátozások, or IP restrictions, refers to the practice of limiting access to a network, service, or resource based on the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the connecting device. This is a common security and access control measure employed by various entities.

Websites and online services often use IP restrictions to prevent unauthorized access or to manage user load. For example, a company might restrict access to its internal network to IP addresses originating from its office locations. Similarly, streaming services might use IP restrictions to enforce geographical licensing agreements, making content available only in specific countries.

Network administrators can configure firewalls and routers to implement IP restrictions. This can involve creating allowlists, which specify the only IP addresses permitted to access a resource, or denylists, which explicitly block access from certain IP addresses or ranges. IP restrictions can also be used to mitigate threats like distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks by blocking known malicious IP addresses.

However, IP restrictions can also present challenges. If a user's IP address changes unexpectedly (e.g., due to dynamic IP assignment), they might be inadvertently locked out of services they legitimately need. In some cases, users behind a shared IP address, such as those in a public Wi-Fi network or a large corporate network, might all experience the same access restrictions, even if their individual use is permitted. The effectiveness of IP restrictions also relies on the assumption that IP addresses accurately represent the identity and location of users, which is not always the case due to the use of VPNs and proxy servers.
