IETF standardization refers to the process by which Internet technical specifications are developed, reviewed, and published as standards. It is carried out by the Internet Engineering Task Force, an open, volunteer community of network engineers, operators, vendors, and researchers from around the world. The work is organized into working groups that operate within IETF areas; each group focuses on a specific topic and produces documents known as Internet-Drafts.
