ID3v2x

ID3v2x refers to a family of metadata tag versions used primarily with the MP3 audio file format. It is an evolution of the earlier ID3v1 tag standard, offering a more robust and flexible way to store information about audio files. The "v2x" designation generally encompasses ID3v2.2, ID3v2.3, and ID3v2.4, each introducing improvements and refinements.

Key advantages of ID3v2x over ID3v1 include its ability to store more information, such as track number, disc number, composer, lyrics, and genre in a more standardized way. It also supports a wider range of character encodings, enabling the display of non-Latin characters and special symbols. Furthermore, ID3v2x tags can be positioned at the beginning of the file, allowing for faster playback startup as the player doesn't need to read the entire file to access the metadata.
