Hübriidsimulatsioon

Hübriidsimulatsioon, also known as hybrid simulation, is a computational method that combines different simulation techniques to model complex systems. This approach is employed when a single simulation paradigm is insufficient to accurately represent all aspects of a system due to varying dynamics, scales, or natures of its components. The core idea is to leverage the strengths of each chosen simulation method for the specific parts of the system they are best suited to model.

The types of simulations that can be combined in a hybrid approach are diverse. This might include, for instance, discrete-event simulation (DES) for modeling user interactions or event-driven processes, agent-based modeling (ABM) for simulating the behavior of autonomous entities, and continuous simulation for representing physical phenomena or mathematical equations. The integration of these methods allows for a more comprehensive and realistic representation of systems where interactions between different types of processes are critical.

Applications of hybrid simulation span various fields. In supply chain management, for example, DES might model inventory and order fulfillment, while ABM could represent the decision-making of individual suppliers and customers. In urban planning, continuous simulation might model traffic flow, and ABM could simulate pedestrian movement and individual vehicle behavior. The primary benefit of hybrid simulation lies in its ability to achieve higher fidelity and accuracy in modeling complex systems that exhibit multi-faceted behaviors, leading to better insights and more informed decision-making.
