Høyspenningsbane

Høyspenningsbane is a Norwegian term that translates to "high-voltage line" or "high-voltage power line" in English. It refers to the infrastructure used for transmitting electricity at very high voltages over long distances. These lines are a critical component of modern electrical grids, enabling the efficient transport of power from generation sources, such as power plants, to substations and ultimately to consumers.

The primary purpose of using high voltages in power transmission is to minimize energy loss during transit. According to Ohm's law and the formula for power loss (P_loss = I^2 * R), reducing the current (I) significantly decreases the amount of energy lost as heat in the conductors. By increasing the voltage, the same amount of power (P = V * I) can be transmitted with a much lower current, thus making long-distance transmission more economical and practical.
