Hypersonist

Hypersonist is a term used to describe a hypothetical entity or object that can travel at or exceed hypersonic speeds. Hypersonic speeds are generally defined as speeds five times the speed of sound or greater. This would place an object traveling at hypersonic speeds at Mach 5 or higher. The concept of a hypersonist often appears in science fiction and theoretical discussions about advanced propulsion and aerospace technology.

Objects capable of sustained hypersonic flight present significant engineering challenges. At these extreme velocities, air resistance generates immense heat, requiring advanced materials and thermal management systems to prevent structural failure. The aerodynamic forces involved are also complex, and controlling an object at such speeds is difficult.
