Hukkuminen

Hukkuminen is the Finnish word for drowning. It refers to the process of respiratory impairment resulting from submersion or immersion in a liquid. Drowning can occur in various bodies of water, including oceans, lakes, rivers, and even swimming pools, as well as in bathtubs or buckets.

The mechanism of drowning involves the inhalation of water into the lungs, which interferes with the normal exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. This can lead to hypoxia, a state of oxygen deprivation in the body's tissues.
