Hozier

Andrew Hozier-Byrne, known professionally as Hozier, is an Irish singer-songwriter from Bray, County Wicklow, born on 17 March 1990. He rose to international prominence in the mid-2010s with a blues- and gospel-influenced sound that blends indie rock, soul, and folk. His deep baritone voice and lyricism—often addressing love, faith, and social themes—have been defining features of his work.

Hozier first gained widespread attention with the 2013 single Take Me to Church, which became an international hit and helped establish his career. In 2015 he received an Ivor Novello Award for Take Me to Church. His self-titled debut album, released in 2014, followed the single and yielded continued success, earning him critical acclaim and chart presence in multiple countries.

In 2019, Hozier released the second studio album, Wasteland, Baby!, continuing his exploration of personal and social topics. His third studio album, Unreal Unearth, arrived in 2023 and expanded his sonic palette with influences from funk and gospel; the release included a series of singles that continued his pattern of introspective songwriting and atmospheric arrangements.

Hozier has toured extensively, performing at major venues and festivals around the world and collaborating with other artists. His work is noted for its lyrical ambition, melodic richness, and willingness to blend genres. Beyond recording, he has supported charitable causes and participated in benefit events.
