Hottentottenkopf
Hottentottenkopf is a historical and now considered offensive term that was used to refer to the Khoikhoi people, a pastoralist indigenous group of southwestern Africa. The word is a compound of "Hottentot," a derogatory term also historically applied to the Khoikhoi and San peoples, and "Kopf," the German word for head. This term likely originated during the period of European colonization in the region, particularly by German settlers in present-day Namibia.
The use of "Hottentottenkopf" reflected the dehumanizing attitudes and colonial practices of the time. It was
