Hormónaframleiðsla

Hormónaframleiðsla is the Icelandic term for hormone production. Hormones are chemical messengers produced by endocrine glands throughout the body. These glands include the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovaries, and testes. Hormones travel through the bloodstream to target cells and organs, where they regulate a wide range of bodily functions.

Disruptions in hormone production, either too much or too little of a particular hormone, can lead to various health conditions. Medical professionals specializing in this field, endocrinologists, diagnose and treat conditions related to hormonal imbalances. Lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, stress, and sleep can also influence hormone production and overall endocrine health.
