Holzlacken

Holzlacken is a small municipality in a rural region known for its timber heritage. It serves as the administrative center of the Holzlacken district and includes the town of Holzlacken as well as several surrounding villages. The municipality covers about 48 square kilometers and has a population of around 2,100 residents. The landscape features mixed forests, rolling farmland, and several small streams.

History of Holzlacken dates back to the 13th century, with the first written mention around 1254. Its early economy centered on forestry, wood processing, and peat harvesting.
