Hipoglikémiás

Hipoglikémiás refers to a state of abnormally low blood glucose (sugar) levels. Glucose is the primary source of energy for the body, and when it drops too low, various symptoms can occur. This condition is commonly associated with diabetes management, particularly in individuals taking insulin or certain oral diabetes medications. Other causes can include excessive alcohol consumption, certain medications, hormonal deficiencies, or prolonged fasting.

Symptoms of hipoglikémiás can range from mild to severe and may include shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, rapid heartbeat, hunger, and irritability. In more severe cases, it can lead to seizures, loss of consciousness, and even coma. The body has mechanisms to raise blood glucose, such as releasing stored glucose from the liver, but these may not be sufficient in certain situations.

Diagnosis typically involves measuring blood glucose levels, which are generally considered low if they fall below 70 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL). Treatment for mild hipoglikémiás involves quickly consuming fast-acting carbohydrates, such as fruit juice, regular soda, or glucose tablets. For severe cases, medical attention is necessary, and glucagon injections may be administered to raise blood glucose levels. Prevention strategies include consistent meal timing, monitoring blood glucose regularly, and adjusting medication dosages as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
