Hintaelasticiteetti, or price elasticity of demand, is a fundamental concept in economics that measures the responsiveness of the quantity demanded of a good or service to a change in its price. It is calculated as the percentage change in quantity demanded divided by the percentage change in price. A value greater than one indicates elastic demand, meaning that a small change in price leads to a proportionally larger change in quantity demanded. Conversely, a value less than one signifies inelastic demand, where changes in price have a relatively smaller impact on the quantity demanded.
