Hifijärjestelmät, or hi-fi systems, refer to audio systems designed for high-fidelity sound reproduction. The primary goal of a hi-fi system is to accurately recreate the original sound recording with minimal distortion or coloration. At the source of the system is the playback device. This could be a turntable for vinyl records, a CD player, a digital audio player for streamed music or files, or even a computer. The quality of the source directly impacts the overall sound.

The next stage involves amplification. An amplifier, or receiver, takes the audio signal from the source and boosts its power to drive the loudspeakers. Integrated amplifiers combine preamplification and power amplification in a single unit, while separates consist of a preamplifier and a separate power amplifier.

Loudspeakers are the transducers that convert the electrical audio signal into sound waves that can be heard. They come in various types, including bookshelf speakers, floorstanding speakers, and subwoofers, each designed to reproduce specific frequency ranges.
