Hiders

Hiders is the plural form of hider, a term used to describe a person or thing that hides. The most common usage is in the children's game hide-and-seek, where hiders conceal themselves to avoid being found by the seeker. Rounds usually begin with the seeker counting aloud to a predetermined limit while the other players find hiding spots. After the count, the seeker searches for the hidden players. If a hider is found, they are out of the round; depending on the variant, the round ends when the last hider is found, or when a timer expires, or when a hider reaches a designated safe zone. In many variants, players who reach safety or survive without being found may become the seeker in the next round.

Beyond games, hider can refer more generally to any person or object that conceals itself or its identity. In everyday language, hiders may use camouflage, disguises, or other concealment methods to avoid detection. The concept appears in discussions of game design, sports strategies, and privacy, where concealment can influence outcomes and safety. In digital contexts, hiding can describe privacy-preserving features or behaviors that reduce visibility to trackers or observers. The term is thus used across contexts to describe the act or state of remaining unseen or undisclosed.
