Hermosilla

Hermosilla is a municipality located in the province of Navarre, northern Spain. It is situated in the southwestern part of the province, approximately 30 kilometers southeast of the city of Pamplona. The municipality has a total area of 14.26 square kilometers.

The town of Hermosilla is nestled in the valleys of the river Tirón's tributaries, and is characterized by its irregular terrain, with numerous slopes and ravines. The local economy has historically been dominated by agriculture, with crops such as wheat, barley, and corn being major contributors to the region's agricultural production.

The Coat of Arms of Hermosilla features two main symbols: a pine tree and a snail shell. The pine tree represents the forest cover that surrounds the town, while the snail shell is likely a reference to the mollusk species that inhabit the area. In addition, the municipality's flag features a blue background with a yellow and white snail shell symbol.

Hermosilla is also home to the 19th-century church of Santa Maria de los Huertos, which features an eclectic mix of Gothic and Baroque architectural styles. The 19th-century San Roque hermitage is another notable landmark in the municipality. Regarding local traditions, the mining and metalworking festivals, known as Fiestas en honor a San Roque, are held from March to May every year.

In total, Hermosilla's population is around 120 residents, and the language most widely spoken is Basque, which is also associated with the protection of the Spanish Navarre linguistic area.
